DOVER, Del. (Sept. 27th, 2009) – Kevin Butler III drove his No. 23 Aaron’s Dream Machine Chevrolet to a solid 23rd-place finish at Dover International Speedway in Saturday’s NASCAR Nationwide Series event, the Dover 200.
In only his second race at the track known as The Monster Mile, Butler held his own against a tough field of competitors, including many stars from the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series. Clint Bowyer won the event, with Mike Bliss, Brad Keselowski, Kyle Busch and Carl Edwards rounding out the top five.
“When we started out, we were just too loose going into the corners,” Butler said. “The guys worked on the car and made it a little better each time we pitted. They actually pulled out the left-front fender a little bit, which you don’t see done too much on a pit stop, but it really helped the car a lot. I’ve got to thank the guys on the crew for thinking of that idea. We were running some really good lap times in the last portion of the race.
“I don’t have much experience here, so it was really important to get some seat time and bring home a decent finish. We turned a lot of laps, got a ton of experience and stayed out of trouble all day. We’ll definitely be able to build on this moving forward.”
Next week, Robert Richardson will be behind the wheel of the No. 23 Mahindra Tractors Chevrolet for R3 Motorsports in Saturday’s Kansas Lottery 300 at Kansas Speedway. ESPN2 will provide television coverage of the event beginning at 3:00 p.m. (ET) on Saturday, October 3rd.
