Bristol, Tennessee (Aug. 22, 2009) – Ken Butler III finished 22nd Friday night in the Food City 250 at Bristol Motor Speedway, and the driver of the Aaron’s Dream Machine was pleased with his finish.
“It was a pretty good race,” said Butler, who qualified 38th for the event. “We struggled in practice and during qualifying with the handling on the car. It was just too tight. But once the race began I was able to muscle the Aaron’s Dream Machine through traffic.”
Butler quickly moved up from his starting position into the top 25, where he stayed for the rest of the race. His lap times were consistent with the leaders as he battled his fellow competitors and the tough .533-mile oval. Butler had said before the event that one of his goals was too make it to the end of the race without getting involved in an incident, which is very tough to do at a treacherous track like Bristol Motor Speedway. The track is famous for the number of wrecks that it produces, but Butler managed to bring his No. 23 Aaron’s Dream Machine Chevrolet home relatively unscathed.
“Getting through this race and being competitive was important to me,” Butler said. “I was determined to put on a good show for the fans in attendance. This race brings out some of the best NASCAR fans in the world and I feel like I met all 160, 000 at the Aaron’s storefront display when I made an appearance on Friday. I feel really fortunate to have their support, as well as the support of all Aaron’s employees who came out to see the great racing action this weekend in Bristol.”
David Ragan won the Food City 250, giving him his first Nationwide Series win at Bristol Motor Speedway. Carl Edwards, Brad Keselowski, Kevin Harvick and Matt Kenseth rounded out the top five.
Ken Butler III will next be behind the wheel of the No. 23 Aaron's Dream Machine on Saturday, September 26 at Dover International Speedway. ESPN2 will provide television coverage for the Dover 200 beginning at 3:00 p.m. (ET).
