R3 Motorsports is prepared to make a statement during the 2010 NASCAR Nationwide Series Season in a larger way than they have in the past.
The young team made its entrance into the world of racing in 2004 fielding its first team in the NASCAR Southeast Touring Division featuring Robert Richardson, Jr. as their primary driver.
As Richardson’s career began to take off, so did the future of R3 Motorsports. With the improved success on each level of competition, R3 Motorsports began to grow and progress through the racing ranks. Through the Southeast Touring Division, Super Late Model Series, ARCA and the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series, R3 Motorsports continued to grow and develop a prominence within NASCAR racing. The 2009 season had a full season of competition in the NASCAR Nationwide Series ranks with Richardson, Jr. and Ken Butler III sharing driving duties in the No. 23 Chevrolet.
In 2010, Richardson returns as the featured driver of the No. 23 Chevrolet. In 2009, he made his NASCAR Sprint Cup Series debut finishing an impressive 18th place at Talladega Superspeedway in October.
“This team was built on a love for racing,” said Robert Richardson, Sr., team owner. “When Rob (Richardson, Jr.) decided he wanted to race, I thought developing R3 Motorsports would be a strong step in the right direction for his career. We have continued to build on a solid foundation since 2004, and I see the 2010 NASCAR Nationwide Series season to be another step in that direction.”
A businessman from McKinney, Texas, Richardson, Sr., has a strong business history with North Texas Pipe. With an avid love of hunting and fishing, Richardson, Sr. is a Texas cowboy who now adds the title of “NASCAR team owner” to his extensive resume.
“We have had great success working with our sponsoring partners in the past, and we’re looking to continue that even more so this year,” said Richardson, Sr. “This year, we have the right people in the right place to make R3 Motorsports more competitive on and off the track.
